Not to mention, apparently the site did not verify email addresses so theoretically you could use anyone's address to create an account.

I think there are more than a few countries where this sort of thing could easily happen. Tech talks get canceled at the behest of the powers that be with some regularity, I don't think requests to take down source code would be out

I've noticed this with iTunes over the last five years or so: it went from rock solid to being a pretty bad user experience. It kind of seems like Apple is a company that greatly benefited from having someone who was constantly willing

My parents called them consequences - the result I would experience was always tied to my actions in a manner that reflected what I would face in the real world as much as possible. I think this is a pretty good approach generally as it hel

Hmm, that's actually pretty doable if coupled with pedal power (you'd either charge directly with a dynamo in this case or pump water to a higher elevation to store as potential energy). Back of the envelope math says you could do

Game's are hacks through and through, generally speaking. No technique works well in all aspects there are always tradeoffs. Even if something only works well for isometric views doesn't mean it's not good. Just sayin'

Wow, that would be quite fun! How does one sim water in 3d effectively in this sort of case? Is it basically a 2d grid with a third "depth" variable and some simple rules like "where neighbor depth > mine: +1 to neighbor d

These were used in my math education. Theoretically, it's a good way to explain base ten but I don't think it helped me much. Oddly enough dominoes somehow lodged themselves in my mind though, I still picture the number ten as two

I think AMZ's endgame is to own the whole pipeline end to end. Using third party sellers has been a good way to get the scale underneath them but 10, 15 years down the road I fully expect the most profitable and in demand items will be

Sounds like you've recognized some pitfalls inherent in the culture. I think the good thing is, you don't need to be defined by this. There are a lot of people out there who prize solid planning and skill above gee wiz buzzwords

Starting around 5 years ago the whole Apple iTunes experience started a rapid decline and is now pretty uniformly terrible. I won't touch it with a ten foot pole now.

Sold. So what are the chances that we get PC architecture like this someday? Do you think it may sneak in the backdoor through graphics card manufacturers? Games seem like a huge application.

I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with it, but it is, as you say, a 'look'. If it fits into the overall art direction and feel you are going for then good, use it. There are a lot of places it won't be

Interesting idea. I think in a hypothetical situation where everyone had total info awareness you could make it work. If somebody uses your info to steal your identity or something, you'd know who it was and they would open themselves
