"It's not genocide, it's just mass-scale war crimes" is a soulless pedantic argument that that convinces no one, and ignores numerous statements of intent from Israeli ministers, politicians, and military leaders.

I'm really happy to support the tiny YouTubers I like on ko-fi or Patreon. It's way more than the pennies per year they might make from my ad views.

If you have GERD or similar you should be on a PPI, not over-the-counter antacids. I can't imagine a doctor recommending that except for mild, occasional complaints. PPIs have their downsides, but they're the best available treatm

Injecting code into third-party DLLs is as sloppy as it gets. It's an awful hack.

GPT-4 is not solving logic problems, it's doing an extremely good job of generating text based on recognizing familiar patterns. If you give it something weird and unfamiliar, it will absolutely fail.

Nadella certainly knows how to be evasive like that, but "all of the rights to continue the innovation" seems like a pretty direct claim that they can just pick up where OpenAI left off without any significant setbacks. It's

I think the situation is changing every five minutes. Sam going to Microsoft is surely an offer that exists, but it may or may not actually happen.

Random low-level employees looking at stuff out of curiosity won't have the power or even the motive to act on that data. For higher-level people it really just isn't worth the risk, unless there's some incredibly valuable se

It'd be pretty silly to quit in this situation, unless you just absolutely loved and worshiped Sam. You wouldn't be acting on some moral principle. The only thing the board has really done wrong is not communicating their reasons

This seems to align with the stuff Kara Swisher was hearing, and suggests Sam was "not consistently candid" about product announcements or something similar.

It is not at all uncommon for people to staunchly defend their friends, even after they have done terrible things. I don't think this rules out anything.

This statement makes it sound like they're confused about why Sam was fired, but Sam's original tweet does not convey any hint of that. Compare: https://twitter.com/sama/status/1725631621511184771

"He lied to the board about what he was going to announce" would sort of make sense, but it's odd that Swisher isn't trying to connect the dots here.

UX can help a bit, but fundamentally the problem is people who have an issue or question but are completely unable to communicate it in a way that can be understood and addressed. The garbage bug reports I see on my projects and others are

Yeah I think most of the speculation is way too mundane. Those factional disputes may exist, but it's clear that something big and serious happened to prompt a very sudden firing with that particular statement.

With modern hardware and OSes the ideal answer is typically to run non-essential tasks exclusively on efficiency cores. So you leave the performance cores free to handle stuff that the user immediately cares about.

Yeah the defense had no alternative story to offer. Before the trial they sort of hinted that Caroline Ellison was responsible for all the fraud, but they never really made that case in court, presumably because the facts didn't exist.
