Yeah, and along with that I'd like a course in kicking the gun pointed at my head out of the holder's hand, then using it to shoot the three other guards watching over me. They do it on TV all the time, can't be that hard.

If it is not sustainable, this saving of a billion lives might have come at the expense of killing several billions of future lives.

Hm, the point of authenticator is to not use the phone, because phjone numbers may be more vulnerable. wasn't there a case of social hacking where the telco forwarded to hacker's phone?

That link isn't really relevant. It's about probabilities. Of course women can pick up a gun, or make fancy careers, or murder people, or abuse kids, or whatever else you can imagine. The likelihoods for them doing it is differren

Of course, but the claim was heroines are only shallow because they are written by men. Also Bella's case might indicate that it's simply not worth it for Hollywood to create deeper characters, because the shallow ones sell better

If that were the case, the solution would be simple: just skip reading comments. On the contrary I often learn useful things from HN comments. Sometimes I even submit stuff to HN because I am curious about the opinion of HN commentators.

Except for Firefly I don't know these characters you mention, and I am not going to watch My Little Pony just so that I can understand your comment... Don't recall what was specific about Zoe from Firefly.

There are many, many movies with women as the main actrice. Even female heroes. What do you mean by hero, somebody who carries heavy guns and mows down lots of enemies? Even those exist, for example Resident Evil (totally unrealistic of cou

Great example to illustrate that the whole discussion is somewhat pointless. Although it really seems likely that there are too few female villains in movies, skewing people's perception of women.

Haven't the expectations usually formed from experience? I don't understand how that is a problem. Is the theory that if there were more movies about female bank robbers, there would be more real bank robbers, in turn making us be

Funny sentence in the first paragraph: "I agree that female characters in pop fiction rarely get to be full, complex people". Maybe she shouldn't be reading so much pop fiction if she craves complex characters...
