I previously used Dokku and I loved how the HTTP proxy was "automatic". I've moved past Dokku but don't want the complexity of k8s for a home network. I sort of envisioned a system that could read out running container n

Your analogy has some holes. Go doesn't direct end users to pull from github and `git pull` is not expected to manage dependencies. The root of this problem is whether pip is an end user's package manager, where a meta package mak

Shell scripts have so many nasty edge cases and quirks. Quoting and `find -print0` aren't enough to not get bitten. And doing the equivalent shell work in Python can be kind of exhausting and maybe prone to different errors.

It sounds like you want simple and reliable. Any Ansible-alternative that you find is going to fail your primary requirement because it won't be as widely adopted, documented, and used as Ansible is. I'm not defending YAML but you

Is pip an end user's package manager or is it a developer's dependency manager? This is why language specific tools always gave me pause. It's focused on supporting the language and not the end user. I can't happily inst

Eh, the slow riders are jerks too :). At a red light, they'll cut the line and blow through the intersection. Then the light turns green and you overtake them until the next red light. Rinse and repeat until you get to work/home.

1. Check your limit screws. Park Tool has nice Youtube videos for adjusting these. 2. If it's the rear derailleur, it may be bent (especially if your limit screws from step 1 are maxed out). You need a derailleur alignment gauge (or ju

e-bikes around here (Boston) seem to be mostly motorcycles with vestigal pedals. If the rider stopped pedaling, I'm not sure there would be any visible change in vehicle behavior. I may not like it but I prefer it to having more cars o

You're describing a high-end e-bike, which is basically an e-motorcycle with less regulation. A high-end regular-bike has electronic shifting and a power meter and that's about it. And you're talking many thousands of dollars

If you don't have a snowy winter, you probably have a blistering hot summer. I can always get a beefier winter jacket for the cold but in the heat, there are only so many layers I can take off before being arrested.

IMO that's not a good replacement (and I'm definitely in search of one!): - You lose all asynchronous aspects to work. - Screensharing is basically one screen at a time and usually "zoomed in", not representing your actu

Rechargeable AAAs are crap though. Power density sucks. Voltage level sucks (and voltage regulators will suck the battery dry before your micro does). And the form factor sucks. I'd sooner have a 18650-family (e.g. 14240 or 14500) beco

Re: bikes, I've found most CF frames lack fender/rack mounts. If you want utility (commuting, shopping, travel), aluminum is going to win out. For example, I can't think of a single CF cargo bike.
