Sure, as long as your website is just a tiny piece of plain text, and all your requests are distributed perfectly evenly over the course of the day, and every person only requests a single file and then leaves. But since none of that is ev

Mozilla is about the nothing. They are not about the long run, they are conceding control of the browser market to google. Firefox OS is never going to be relevant, will have no impact on phones, and doesn't help anyways. Phones are

When the entire world thinks you are the asshole, it is worth stopping and considering the possibility that they may be right.

Doing other things (that very few people are interested in or want) does not excuse having a broken browser stay unfixed for years. Firefox is well on its way to being the next IE6.

You are not rebutting that claim, you are being obtuse. >You can prove mathematical theorems with programs that have no side effects No, of course you can not. How do you see the result? That requires a side effect of some kind. >A

Yes true. Running a program with no side effects is a no-op. All side effect free programs are identical, and do nothing. This is one of the most common misconceptions people afraid to learn haskell bring up, because people keep saying &

Without side effects you couldn't do anything. Pure functional languages make side effects explicit, but it isn't about them being missing.

I have never gotten any useful information from references ever. A lot of them are afraid to say anything substantial and just confirm "yes, so and so worked for us", at best you get a vague "they did their job well".

It really isn't. It is a testament to how many people don't want to learn anything, and just want to follow a list of directions. Setting up your own mail server is trivial, it is a 5 minute job.
