Self-driving is very easy to evaluate. We humans are potentially very good drivers, and in practice we all can say if someone is driving safely or not. Chemical and biological interactions are very difficult to evaluate and predict, so I do

Even in theory, the article says: "The end is near: The end of flattened data and losing business information." Honestly, I can't see how events are not more flattened data than a properly designed relational database. In fac

Well, you can't always have something that specific to fall back. In fact, it is better not to have bugs every day =)

Seems to me a bit like the adversarial networks used to train AI. Of course, you want an adversarial network that's difficult to trick, otherwise the training will produce suboptimal results.

I would not paint it that way. For fish, it is often the case the male takes care of the eggs, and the females are free of any responsibility. There are other behaviours in the sea, and they are in general so different to mammals that we ca

Without ads. And without using search. And without paying Google to push news headlines on Android devices. RSS is a menace to Google's bottom line!

I always perceived the opposite. Carmack is the real genius, Romero is just a lucky level designer who happened to be in the right place at the right time. Many other level designers rapidly surpassed Romero. Carmack was doing a great job u

They only hire some talent to prevent other companies to hire them. It's a way to strangle the competition. But also not good for the industry in general.

It's the curse of the golden goose. They can't do anything that threatens their main income. They are tied to ads and ads technology, and can't do anything about it. Microsoft had a crisis and that drives focus. Google... the

I also like that one. And Calibri, which is a font that can't decide if it wants to have serifs or not. I can't have enough fonts.

That's your (arguably wrong) opinion. Some of the most beautiful and enjoyable fonts I have used in my 300-dpi e-book reader have serifs. - Ancizar - Bookerly - Imperial (the one used by NYTimes) - Palatino

Which legal reasons? Is there a monopoly over Usenet archives, or is it someone arguing about their own posts only? I would believe it is wrong for someone to have copyright over what's basically distributed public forums.

I kind of agree. For me, in Ubuntu LTS, Gnome looks nice and has good font rendering. File drag and drop doesn't work, I can't use their default file manager like I use Windows Explorer. So, not always the same thing, but always
