For getting media out of ffmpeg you have https://github.com/pion/webrtc/tree/master/examples/rtp-forw... For playing media from disk you have https://github.com/pion/webrtc/

AV1 support is already available in libwebrtc! So when I started building Pion the target use case was to make it easier to build scalable servers. Instead of interacting with a WebRTC servers REST API to query information/load balance

I just finished adding AV1 support to Pion WebRTC. What AV1 is able to do is pretty amazing! I spent a lot of my time with H264 because of legacy devices/hardware acceleration. Seeing the jump in quality + reduction in bandwidth usage

You should help out with the gaps in the media stack! That is the only way it will get better :) I don't believe echo cancellation is a hard problem either. I don't know the specific details, but I have heard this argument so many

I do that all the time. is anything wrong with that? Sometimes you go and build something to solve a specific problem, and realize it solves lots of different things. I don't think it matters what the Daily team originally intended. It

What is `daily-core` actually doing? It is signaling code? Have you evaluated webrtc-rs yet? I haven't keep up to date with mediasoup, but I saw they have a rust effort. Have you evaluated that yet? Seems possible to drop lots of C++ d

I have had offers to be paid to work on specific things for github.com/pion/webrtc and github.com/pion/dtls. I took one and it wasn't as great as I thought it would be. I really value the autonomy/independence

I don't know Jitsi at all, but the things about Galene (and Pyrite) I have enjoyed. * Low resource requirements. You can serve lots of users off a Rasp Pi * Single binary + JSON Config. * Designed to be modified. Galene is API driven s

One year ago… time seems to be speeding up for me. Thanks for the kind words. Hopefully you are happy with your choice! If you ever need any help or just a WebRTC sounding board I am always excited to chat.

That makes sense :) If you saw anything when evaluating Pion that could have made it better I would love to hear. Always trying to improve. These threads are super exciting since I get a general guidance. Existing Pion users are biased

WebRTC has so many great implementations now! The author of the C# implementation started a really great project webrtc-echoes[0] that shows them all working together. The next big challenge in the space seems to be getting widely available

Hey HN, Really excited to share this example. After multiple months of work Pion finally has bandwidth estimation. This is a really exciting/huge milestone. Pion is a Pure Go implementation of WebRTC. Back when we started there was onl

Hey HN, This is an example of playing static content using WebRTC, with a bandwidth estimator! This just added to Pion and really excited to see what people can do with it. WebRTC has a lot of potential in this space. It’s ubiquity and flex

It is using a WebRTC Data Channel. You can send binary/text data over the same connection that is receiving the media. The other exciting thing about Data Channels is that you can send lossy/unordered messages and get flow control

Thank you! I have been focused most on vertically scaling Pion. AES-GCM[0] was a big one that landed recently. I also pushed for it in Chromium[1], it still isn't the default unfortunately. Batch UDP[2] should be happening soon as well
