I'm not sure I see the incentive here. Follow my logic. A prize is valuable because it's something you couldn't afford yourself. If I offered $1 prize people probably wouldn't be too psyched about it because a dollar is something they co

Personally I’d like to see NASA morph into an agency that supports the private sector somewhat in the vein of the FCC. Because there’s another problem out there that no one’s really talking about and that’s the fact that private investors

The question was "Will this teach kids how to use computers" and my answer was "it's an alternative interface so not necessarily" So I don't see how your comment is relevant. Sure there are situations where an alternative interface is a go

I'm not sure that's true, at least not with the OLPC. The OLPC doesn't resemble modern interfaces (see screenshot here: http://morgancollett.files.wordpress.com/2007/05/olpc-taskvi... ) so I don't know how much it prepares kids for using

At some point in your career I think it's nice to sit down with Assembly just so you understand what's going on down there. But I don't think a programmer should do that until they have a rock solid understanding of modern day programming.

You missed his point. He's saying your study doesn't speak to the question. While his anecdotal evidence might not be accurate but it at least addresses the question at hand.

I don't know what University you went to but having known people who "partied their way through the Ivy league" (by their own admission) I feel pretty confident that people can get through any 4 year university without working all that hard

Yes, if the people making the malware were complete idiots and ran down people's batteries it would be noticeable. But, as on the PC, I'm sure they could find a way to make it just subtle enough to not be noticed. Estimates place the numb

Where did I say that Apple's app store process was identical to Google's? Or even close? The original article quoted a post endorsing the idea of no approval process while saying the person writing that article was right. To me that's an

I'm not sure this would make a difference. Even the largest companies generally only have a couple hundred external lines. (internal office phone systems don't give each number it's own dedicated external line for those who don't know) So

What the author misses is phones present dangers and costs that PCs don't. So his philosophy of "we've gotten by in the past and our PCs never had a review process" doesn't hold up. In fact, it ignores the fact that a large percentage of t

I'm not sure this should be taken much more seriously. This is a survey of MyYearbook.com users which right there makes it more biased towards those who would use a service like Twitter. Beyond that we have no real idea of how the numbers

I assume you're talking about this story: http://www.naturalnews.com/021290.html If so I'd have to dispute it. I do think the U.S. imprisons too many people for drug charges but I also think China and Russia have a lot of people imprison
