In addition to the other points made here, it's well-known that Apple poached a lot of engineering talent from Intel and AMD.

I think the main problem is that we think of code as text. So the only way to determine if code is related is by parsing all of the text again. I'm not sure if a database representation is really the correct path to take, but I think w

Was that ever their goal? They're more than happy to sell games from other developers on the Unreal store. I'm sure being a sort of one-stop shop for games on Mac/iOS is their ultimate goal. Nobody has given any reason why th

I don't blindly believe everything it says. I've caught it making mistakes plenty of times. But there's simply no going back anymore. There's no replacing what it can do and the kind of workflow it offers.

Isn't it obvious? I can't have a conversation with an exercise and the solution. ChatGPT has helped me uncover gaps in my mathematical knowledge because I can ask it questions about what something means, how something was arrived

Absolutely. I've been teaching myself Haskell and C++ too. For the first time in my life, learning is fun and not a dire struggle every step of the way (particularly as somebody with ADHD). Need to know how to handle building a C++ pro

On that note, I've been using ChatGPT to (re-)teach myself mathematical induction and working with proofs. It's like having my own tutor. There is huge potential here just for helping people learn new topics and skills.

This. Currently, going to the office means 1,5 hours by train (or more if there are delays or trains are cancelled, which isn't uncommon in Germany) or 30-40 minutes by car. I'm not risking a 2 hour commute unless I absolutely hav

The issue stems more from how stakeholders and management don't know what they want, but they still expect tight and concrete deadlines. Either you have iterative development with space to explore ideas and solutions which will take lo

Apparently, because you can't seriously be asking that question. You've clearly never worked in any kind of customer support position, because businesses and individuals need all kinds of help with a transition like that.

And that's OP's fault how? We often have to work with the environment and framework we have, not the one we wish we had where we could just immediately implement the best possible solution.
