If a clone proceeds to take all your business, I would suggest that perhaps your business model was not sustainable.

The article gets it right in defining the classic problem: buyers are not generally users. And when they are, they're not qualified to make informed decisions about design. Where the article gets it wrong is the solution. At least in my lim

No modding needed with the recently released, cheesily named Sturmey-Archer S3X. It's an internally-geared three speed fixed gear hub: http://www.sturmey-archer.com/products/hubs/cid/3/id/47 .

Is the title here incorrect? From the article: Our combined income exceeds the $250,000 threshold for the super rich (but not by that much), and the president plans on raising my taxes. As for the author's premise, it all depends on what

My 8 year old son LOVES the hardy boys, though he's mostly reading stuff a bit older now. I wonder sometimes about the...cheesiness and some of the less-than-PC content in this series and others, but I figure if I turned out OK he could too

Our pediatrician recommends spacing the vaccinations. It turns out that when you give them very early, many require a booster later because the infant immune response isn't as strong. If you give it a bit later, no booster needed. So then i

First of all, don't assume the domains are unused. You have no way of knowing this. I have domains that are critical to my infrastructure but don't necessarily have a web site (or even public DNS records). I'll never sell them. How does t

I had someone call me up for a domain our company wasn't using any more. He asked, and I simply transferred ownership. It had been made clear to me earlier that the domain was not at all desired by the company.

Call me insane then. I bought an iPad instead of a laptop, which is slightly different from what you said. Why? It's a family computer. Great for kids. Portable.

I (male) will sometimes subtly bring it up. It's a bit of a gamble. If the company has a huge problem with the fact I need to occasionally take kids to appointments, etc., then I'd rather not get hired and save the trouble. Most of the time

Unless I'm missing something, this needs an obvious hook of why it's easier, right up front. I see a number of attractive screenshots, but nothing to excite a user into "Wow! This is simple!". I mean, everyone says their software is simpl

Leaderboards are an anti pattern in community design because they turn 99% of your customers into losers and losing is not fun. Of course. I've always wondered about that. Do you have a source for this info? I'm not trying to lay on the

In California, Proposition 13 limits (among other things) reassessments to when the property changes hands or when there is new construction. Opinions vary on whether it's a good seal for the state. It's a great deal for me, though.
