If you had to bet on Apple supporting APTX Lossless or inventing their own thing that won’t work with other peoples stuff, you already know what they’re going to do.

Yep. You try and explain the arguments or situations, but in peoples minds they apply the model of a normal person that they have in their head to the narc because they look at the narc and see a normal person, and they think well you just

Yeah PuTTY has the keepalives option for exactly this reason. My home router doesn't seem to need them but when I'm out and about on 4G they help. You also have the SO_KEEPALIVE option on TCP connections in general.

Just because it's hard doesn't mean they should get away with not doing it. Google 2020 revenues were 181 Billion, you can build a VERY big call centre with that.

The far more interesting scenario is via the hyper-v console viewer, you could call OVH or Azure or whoever and get support to console your machine, then escape your VM onto their hyper-v host.

Can you play against the rats?

by Neil44 5y ago
Yes that too! The stories are relateable but I feel like it should be more widely accepted that dealing with difficult people and situaions is as much part of the job as diagnosing slow servers.

Some subreddits are OK like /r/sysadmin. However I find that many communities suffer from a snarky mentality. People who thinik they know everything responding negatively or belittling people who ask questions instead of just answ

I host a few hundred wordpress sites and I recognise that string by sight! Tons of bots seem to use it. I haven’t 403’d it (yet) though.

by Neil44 5y ago
I was about to post the same, you will quickly run out of ready trim’d blocks at high utilisation, which the article doesn’t mention.

Scary. I remember an old cPanel bug where a php error log ended up publicly accessible, you can guess the rest...

You’re right, maybe stable, tidy and can afford a lawnmower would be a better pidgeon hole than ‘nice’ :)

My cynical view is that if you put not nice people into nice places, you make the places not nice, not the other way around. 99% of the time.

Ah you’re cruising the internet elbowing brexit into every discussion, I see. Carry on.

by Neil44 5y ago
He’s discussing the US truck driver situation, seems a little unfair to put that on the prime minister of the UK.
557.
by Neil44 5y ago
Yep. If you tag 'because of brexit' onto literally any headline it's instant click fodder at the moment.

I see what you’re saying but I believe there’s an issue at the silicon level where the gates literally use more power to do the same work at higher frequencies.

OK but 5x the panels makes for 10-20 miles a day not 450. Also with the panels extended you would not be able to drive, so you would alternate driving and charging days.

The best WP cache plugins generate static copies of pages then put rewriterules in the .htaccess to serve them, which is functionally pretty close to what you describe. This way the request doesn’t touch php at all which is a big advantage.

I wonder how they got to 450 miles a day on solar. I remember the Prius solar roof option would only give you a couple of miles a day in ideal circumstances. This camper has more panels but that’s still a bit jump to 450 miles.

For me modern art is about my reaction to the piece, and the insight and illumination into myself that that gives. So looking at a piece is in a way looking at myself. Modern art can also be a way of communicating feelings and ideas that la

In the UK we have an agreement with Huwawei and access to firmware, which can be bit-for-bit compared to what ships. We don't for other manufacturers. But guess which one we're told not to trust.

I like apple maps for navigating around but Google maps main advantage is the search. I can put the name of a clients business or a landmark into Google maps and then hit start. Apple maps search just doesn’t find things.

It will take some time for the dad thing to become the ‘new normal’. Don’t expect to be fine with it straight away but keep trying over time because it’s worth it. Do small stuff like going round for a quick coffee.

Same, cable select was not worth messing with as it so rarely worked. Just set master/slave and be done with it. I agree with the other poster also that said CDROMS were the worst full stop.

One thing that springs to mind is, as fas as I know it's not too difficult to manually assign tasks to cores on linux in a way that makes sense to the workload. But I'm not sure if you can do that at all on Windows.
