I don't know exactly what this company is looking for and how big a team you would be managing so it's hard to speak for them, however, an Engineering Manager is usually a pretty high level position and you should be expected to h

Well said, but I think you're missing the point. People aren't upset because they paid for something and got a nice experience (or not) out of it. They are upset because they paid for something and they still have not received it.

The company knows how to make great VR experiences but this is a bizarre move by Google. Historically, they've not been great in the game space (look at Ingress, or does anybody remember Lively.com)? I suppose you could argue this is t

I recall his biggest qualm with his current synthesized voice is that it did not come with a British accent. :-) I'm not sure how sentimental he is but he does seem quite tied to that voice since there have been lots of advancements in

I would say https://hackaday.com . It doesn't match the format exactly (i.e. story voting w/ aggregated scores for weighting to front page) but it is in the spirit of HackerNews.

Not to be overly pedantic but the Singularity is defined as the point at which AI has reached runaway growth during which it would improve itself beyond anything imaginable by humans. I think you're just talking about a self-replicatin

Curious; are Uber or Lyft drivers penalized at all for canceling? I had a Lyft driver a few weeks back call me and ask where I was, which is odd since the app tells him. Turns out he was on the wrong side of the street. Instead of just turn

Two things I'm not a fan of so far in the API design. 1) Function names are misleading or not descriptive enough. E.g. isAlpha(). I assumed this meant is alphanumeric, but it actually means isAlphabetic (as in no numeric values at all)

Wasn't clear from the article; did someone or a group of people break the law so that these ("illegal") bonuses could be paid? Basically, who (or what org) will be held accountable for this so that it won't happen again?

This is an interesting idea in that it basically becomes the store for post-kickstarter projects that had traction but not enough to negotiate a contract with major retailers. Great idea -- I hope it takes off (no pun intended).
