My original point was meant to nod towards survivorship bias. I won't argue that choices are great now, with tons of niche offerings that are a delight for many. But using Stardew Valley as an example doesn't hold up well for crea

Hard to argue against that. There's clearly a higher bar in Steam. Hopefully that will continue.

Stardew Valley is great. But note that the author took a classic approach to solo assets and devlopment: pixel art on a 2d canvas. This is a great game in a well established medium, and the concept itself is part homage to Harvest Moon, ori

Better for marketing, better for tourists. So often the DS9 joke comes to mind here: "Would you want to buy a book called 'The Suggestions of Acquisiton'?"

Believe me, I'm not claiming that the dev/stage/prod pattern is any kind of cure-all. It has its own problems, which are probably too numerous for a late-night post. From what you've described, you're doing the righ

Big brain move. Gives them a nice easy public exit from what was nothing more than virtue signaling. I agree with the license change being honest. They clearly didn't give a shit.

What you wrote here disagreeing with the author is probably more than what Hashicorp has collectively communicated in the last 5 years. At least you cared to do so. It's cool if they don't agree with something being trivial. It&#x

Which to me makes very little sense in a "laptop". It's pretty good at helping the device stay cool, but you will regret wearing shorts should your processor or GPU really need to get work done, should you actually have it on

This doesn't scale well. It is a perfectly fine approach for smaller systems with a few dependencies, but you are going to have serious headaches whenever you (1) start to see more complex internal system dependencies, and/or (2)

Anyone else bothered by the fact that it asks you to pick a pair, when there are clearly four dice in each pic? Did I miss something, or is this either broken or intentionally misleading? Technically, there is no traditonal pair of 6-sided

Except for the part Llama 2 weights are still being gated by Meta. There are certainly ways around this, but officially this hasn't even changed, even for Llama 1. I'm not certain Meta has any real incentive to do so. This arguabl

For a time, so was bitcoin mining. ML hardware sales are being driven by a 'Renaissance' of rapid model development and commercial offerings, primarily by the FAANG, but several others too. This is neat, but beyond the initial wav

DLSS directly leverages the tensor cores of particular NVidia cards. Whether or not this is just a marketing gimmick is up to you and your own conclusions on the matter, but AMD doesn't seem to have an equivalent hardware tech for thi

Have you tried DLSS 3 with frame generation yet? Ray tracing performance hits are mitigated substantially, 4K included. What is more shocking to me is how low they got the latency on it; I have yet to notice perceptible lag when turned on (

To be frank, as cool as that is, it is easy to overlook the same problem with drones: they are distinctively LOUD unless at a distance (and even then). Would be interesting to corroborate whether unusual noises are associated with their arr
