I would argue it's a much easier blank check to write than for consultants. Software complexity over time is a major headache and new initiatives happen all the time. Take for instance GDPR - in AWS it was a company wide effort to get

Glad to see fountain pen enthusiasts here. I'm embarrassed to say how much I've spent on them over the years. I agree with their recommendations, especially the TWSBI ECO Fountain Pen - would recommend that over the Pilot Metropol

While true, I think they do innovate in policy around it. Regulation is an ever-evolving field as well and they do think about it more. But yes, in a half-century I'm very curious where Europe will be. India passed the UK in gdp recent

Decks were mostly LC problems - anytime Anki told me to review it, I would spend 5min or so trying to remember the general outline. If I forgot, I would put it back into the To Study again queue (essentially it would show up sooner again)

Having tried spaced repetition methods for studying for swe interviews, I can concur that it is the most effective way for me learn. It does require an intense amount of discipline though, so wonder how well it will work for me in execution

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economies_of_agglomeration I bet most of the startups in the US are concentrated in the SF/Bay Area. Would be stupid to go build something anywhere else in the US unless you already h

I wonder when South Asia will leapfrog the EU. It is insane to me still how orthogonal innovation is to European leaders.

I don't know if it's as much slapped together as it is just "simple". I feel super arrogant and very HN-esque saying it but I did a deep dive into the code and it isn't anything to write home about engineering wise.

Is there any data on this? Not trying to refute, just genuinely interested in impact over generations.

Agree. Something in the past few years that's changed for me is to be less of the "Trust the science" type person. Ultimately research is conducted by humans and we are all prone to any normal human biases

Wait what?? What's the catch, 1200wh/kg is insane. Putting the same weight of this into a Tesla Model Y would easily give over 1200 miles of range

I think if you took a poll of AWS workers you'd find that most enjoy it. The culture leads to a vocal minority who REALLY hate it but my time there was some of the most enjoyable I've ever had. I've worked with some of the sm
