This is needlessly reductive and misses the point: the issue isn't saturation, the issue is that OP hasn't identified the USP of the product. Zuck knew full well that the USP of The Facebook was helping students get laid (or at le

One thing that this article doesn't mention is that Mountain View is soul-crushingly boring. It would be one thing if it was a place of character and interest that was being eroded (I can sympathize with some elements of the SF communi

Because Congress never votes for a reform of tax codes because the lobbying from Intuit and HR Block et al is too strong, while there's no lobby for the populace at large to say "This sucks."

I can't help but think that between this and the Android Visual Studio integration, we might see Android app compatibility on Windows Phone, much like the Blackberry app play a couple years ago. It would certainly put the jumper cables

This article does a very poor job at elucidating exactly why Horvitz thinks AI will be a benign thing, and the source material doesn't make much of it either. The headline doesn't match the content. I personally subscribe to The M

It's not clear he/she didn't notify a secondary person, who would have likely had the same knowledge he/she did. Given the same knowledge, the same push might well have happened.

A true root cause would go deeper and ask why is it that an engineer could solely decide to roll out to all slices? Because writing code which contains a large number of checks and balances is generally orders of magnitude more expensive

Read state shouldn't be overloaded with "still to ToDo", otherwise you don't really know how many ToDo items you have vs those you haven't triaged yet.

I'm not a PM so I can't speak to the decision itself, but I don't think grafting on the Inbox workflow to the Gmail interface would have worked out. It would have made both of them very muddled, and given the impression Inbox

I'm an engineer on Cloud SQL. Support is much, much different from the wider Google reputation in Cloud[1]. We have a long leash to talk directly to people, and we do: Cloud SQL team, at least, monitors the google-cloud-sql tag on Stac

I do believe there is something here. I know Grahame Devine from the Santa Cruz circuit and met him a couple of times. He was serious about his one-man band independent iOS development, and he seemed very happy about staying in Santa Cruz.

If we take "diversity is better for tech companies" as a truism (which I would), then all this means is that part of the hiring budget should go to increasing the pipeline by getting diversity candidates interested in CS when they

Yeah, I'd quite like an `or die;` equivalent, as I've run into the same thing as you: scripts that can't do anything if the chain of commands fails anywhere. I have written functions that do the same thing: xOrDie(), but it&#

I would guess it is the `if err` lines and other such gofmt artifacts that expand the LOC. Go is higher-level, but it's not terse. It's deliberately pretty explicit. IMHO 100 lines of Go might well do the same as 100 lines of C, b
