I'm serious in that: a) That's what is written in the contract b) I think you should be able to migrate off the platform within that timeframe, and you shouldn't join our platform if you don't think we're making it

I'm quite a fan of Hello, but you need to explicitly turn off a "feature" that tells people you message you send it with Hello. I have no idea why they don't just charge a dollar for it.

I was going to come here to say this. I've lived in a couple of college towns in California (Davis and Santa Cruz), and they both have a Gap in the downtown area. Strolling downtown, especially in Santa Cruz, is just a Thing To Do, lik

Well, if they aren't crashing, and the apps are already built, then aren't they really running just fine? What value do you buy by switching legacy apps that aren't being actively developed to Postgres?

Yes, it's not possible . This is the very same way my wife and I were running bills for years, and yes, that's why I didn't move to Simple due to that feature not being there.

Just because something is a possible attack vector for fraud, doesn't mean it shouldn't exist. Other US banks offer the feature. And, at least in the UK, it's a standard thing to do. If they combined with two-factor auth, the

Externally it appears this way (I can't talk about infrastructure in any real detail). Latency is the same as if you were running MySQL on any other platform AFAIK. If the database is cold, yes, the DB is spun down. An incoming connect

I would frame it the other way which is that Google has had to dogfood the inhouse services so has spent a bunch of time troubleshooting/bug fixing internally ;) I know that Google as a whole has a rep for support which isn't grea

Speaking for myself and not for the company (I only joined Cloud SQL in October), given limited time/people/money, I'd have made the same choice. Everything on the web can run on MySQL, or has a connector to do so. Postgres,

The 500GB bit is listed under "Storage Size", the column in the table is the amount of storage you get without needing to pay. This is a bit confusing, I'll file a bug to get it cleaned up. Thanks for the spot.

Basically, Cloud SQL databases are written out to Google's storage system, which automagically replicates across several datacenters. If the primary datacenter that your database is in goes down, it's still replicated across other

MySQL provides the underpinnings for many other hosted apps, like Wordpress. It's the lingua franca of web databases, so that's why we're working with it. Disclaimer: I'm a developer on Cloud SQL.

While you can't get root on App Engine, you can get root on a Google Compute Engine instance, and you can use Cloud SQL for a standard data backend. You don't have to use a keystore deal like the old days anymore (pre-2011). Discl
