You forget your own cost here. A full-time system administrator costs more than 72k a year.

In Europe, Whatsapp is ubiquitous. FB Messenger and iMessage are pretty rare here. Edit: looks like I was wrong. I'm in the Netherlands. In the Netherlands and our neighbouring countries, Whatsapp is ubiquitous, so I presumed the rest

Looking at the actual commit for this issue: https://github.com/openssl/openssl/commit/f960d81215ebf3f65e... I highly doubt that rust would have prevented this. Rust is not a silver bullet that solves all bug

Story time! I've had this exact experience, except that it wasn't a dream. Back in 2010 I had a weird issue where my cable connection would sometimes completely block the connectoin right after the DHCP response (we had dynamic IP

I found the example of the automated email to the ship's captain a bit weak. > The point is that we don’t know, the captain of the ship itself didn’t know, and that nobody may know It all boils down to abstraction. Just like the cap

Does anyone here have experience with actually using the pinephone as a daily driver? I know plenty of people that ordered one, but they are all laying on a drawer somewhere with the intention to play with it a bit. Basically how most RPi&#

I have a bit of a collection of hacker/IT documentaries. In one of them I remember a former IBM employee sang the songs during an interview. This was for me (as a non-native English speaker) the first time I learned that 'gay'

For most airliners, it is allowed for crew to take 'companion' passengers, like friends or family on a flight. The companion must still pay for the ticket, but it is usually sold with a hefty discount. Companions also have no guar

Yes, Lexus is the luxury branch of Toyota. Most Japanese brands have a separate branch, mostly for the US market. Honda has Acura, Nissan has Infinity. AFAIK Lexus is the only branch that is sold worldwide under the same badge.

I've owned several Lexuses (Lexi?), and the one thing that struck me was the recalls, and how long they keep doing that. I got my first experience when I bought an 2006 IS250. In 2014 (the car was now 8 years old) I got a recall letter

Yes and no. It certainly is possible to get good deliverability, but you gotta play by the rules (which is: all the RFCs). But when you do, there are also a lot of poorly configured email servers out there that don't comply to the RFCs

I don't understand your example, those Klipsch are just speakers, you'll still need an amplifier and bluetooth receiver. This feels like comparing apples (no pun intended) with oranges.

Apple already has a huge gaming platform with iDevices and the app store. Mobile games are a huge business and Apple takes 30% of that revenue. So why would an energy efficient ARM chip suddenly make a gaming console of interest to Apple? B

One should never drill into the battery, regardless if it is inside the body, or inside a box. It's dangerous, but so is drilling into a gasoline or LPG tank. Car mechanics are trained on this topic, they know. Compared to current batt
