What put me off from mastodon is the fact that you can't migrate your account easily. Yes, Bluesky is more centralized, but I feel like it is decentralized in the ways that matter for a Twitter/X Alternative use case : - Self host

I did not use Bluesky a lot, and just set it up to try self-hosting. From what I know : - Right now you can self-host your PDS (Personal Data Server) that hosts your user account basically, and all of your user content (posts, images, etc..

Isn't "endgame" a common expression to mean "the end", "the place where there's no progress anymore" etc ?

I saw someone use this to track his mail state. They have a contact sensor inside their mailbox that rotates the broadcasted key based on the trigger count. If the key changed, aka a new different device is visible, you know mail has been d

I'm still not sure which is more readable between defer and try/finally (not in any language particularly). I know I hate one and love the other, but I still don't know which.

I was exposing my services the same way for a long time, now I only expose web services via cloudflare, with an iptable configuration to reject everything on port 443 not coming from them. I also use knockd for port knocking to allow the ss

I NEED to get into shader programming and 3D rendering. Articles like this are awesome, I wish I could actually write a shader.

Yes, Minecraft gets more and more data-driven, but for adding completely new features like, a solar system with planets, or turning the player into a robot of something, you'll have to edit some of the built in code. This Mixin library

There's also a usability problem. Handling results with map, map_err and .ok is way easier to follow that the minimum 4 lines you have to add in Java to do anything about a checked exception (try {} catch {}). Explicit error handling

Are downvoted comments really removed ? I thought they just became collapsed by default and greyed-out. And that only flagged comments get actually removed.

I'm trying Haskell this time. For this one, I learned how to write a basic parser with Text.Parsec and manipulate the tuples with bimap ! It's a very fun occasion to learn a new programming language.

Well, ryujinx didn't really get taken down from what I heard. Nintendo just contacted the repo owner and basically paid them to stop everything and remove the repo, I think.

Honest question, since I know nothing about anti cheat development. Is it really feasible to detect cheats that are not simply "insta lock aim to some player" on the server side only ? Scripting, or Wallhacks, or cheats like these
