The problem with these types of assassinations is that the provably incompetent commander may get replaced by someone who is reasonably competent.

The best way to get information online is to say the wrong thing. Kudos for enlightening me on this topic!

The late teens early 20s crowd -- they're making shit in Minecraft and Terraria. Even Kerbal Space Program enthusiasts would be in their early 30s by now!

I just ran into these old 3dfx commercials which seem rather prescient given the enormous impact of GPUs on computing today

Sega was vicious in how they approached hardware. They low-level took down 3dfx with false promises to include a 3dfx voodoo chip in the Sega Dreamcast, then reneging on the deal, contributing to 3dfx's ultimate bankruptcy and the rise

It was a solid 2-3 years before those games were ported to PS2, Gamecube, and (in the case of jet set radio) Xbox! 13 year old me gasped when they announced Sonic Adventure would be released on Gamecube. That's when I knew the jig was

Sega had Sonic Adventure, Soul Caliber, Phantasy Star, Space Channel 5, Crazy Taxi. On the gaming front they had everything they needed. On the pricing front though... oh boy. You are not gonna survive as a hardware company when Sony jams a

Teslas are already consumer items that rock massive batteries. My 25 count is off. It's probably closer to 75 GPUs right now. Let's say today's models are running vanilla transformers via pytorch without any of Deepmind'

I was incorrectly calculating based on 1 weight == 1 transistor which is totally wrong. This figure that you provided is more accurate. We can see that today, the MI300X can already run inference for some open source LLMs: https:/

That's on the order of 25 4090 GPUs to run inference. Not a crazy number by any means. We will see consumer robots running that by the end of the decade, mark my words.

I've been solodevving a VR game on the side since half-life alyx came out. Honestly the pace of hardware advancement is a bit demoralizing as my game is effectively tuned for Quest1 graphics

When these games came out, the PC game market was smaller with less competition. Programmers and game makers drew from what they grew up with which was table top board games. That's why the instruction manuals were thick (like a DnD ma
