According to the NYTimes, OceanGate refused to undergo any sort of external audit/certification process [0]. I would imagine using an off the shelf, cheap controller would have been one of the first things to be flagged. Makes you wond

Quite a useful change at first glance, equivalent to go’s `defer`? If you use react, it can get a lot more interesting[0] [0] https://twitter.com/JLarky/status/1669741878324113408

I’m not passionate when it comes to delivering work at my paid job. I have opinions, but don’t care if the rest of the team wants to go another way. I make myself heard, and move on. I think that’s a perfectly fine way to make a living. On

Most recipe sites are also misleading when it comes to the amount of fat required and the quantity of spices (at least for Indian cooking). I used to wonder why the special “restaurant” recipe was as just meh. Then after I got a little more

Looks very slick! As someone who hacked on something similar for sketch, this looks much more polished. But I think the killer feature would be the formalisation of the protocol to support outputting to any language/framework. As someo

Over zealous members and supporters of political parties have always done this in India. The difference I see is that they have become much more brazen in the past few years and don’t care about negative publicity. This along with draconian

I don’t understand how they think 1000 searches per month is enough for a family. Also the cost of additional searches makes it a non starter for my family. Looks like pay per view has finally come to web searches as well.

Thanks for the honest technical write up - not easy to air one's dirty laundry to users. Given the scalability and stability issues, I am curious to understand the percent of apps deployed to fly are actually used in production/cr

Sounds like it’s time for him to move on. I’m sure it’s incredibly difficult to give up on a passion project which is also very popular, but he doesn’t sound happy and in a good mental space. Besides, I highly doubt that companies will sudd

I’ve always used PayPal on GitHub for sponsoring great devs since it’s the lowest touch option. Strange that there is no explanation as to why it’s being stopped.

Yea have some pretty obvious improvements pending as well. But that’s a good suggestion - might get someone to come give a professional assessment before I put in a 7kwh unit for another room.

I got a similar setup for my house as well. Being able to selectively cool rooms that are in use is great. However, I do wish the insulation was far better. Unfortunately I’ve noticed that Melbourne houses are usually very poorly constructe

Valid question. For me, it’s about being in the apple ecosystem and seamlessly integrating with my other devices. I use it as a second monitor when traveling with my MacBook and use it as a HomeKit hub.

Question for those familiar: what do these driverless cabs do between rides? Do they just park at the closest free/low cost spot or do they keep driving around? Or are there dedicated spots rented out by Waymo where the cars dock?

Not defending the draconian process or the pain the author went through - but wildly different scenario. Building anything on agricultural land should face scrutiny.

I wish it was that clear cut. Here in Australia there is an acute shortage of rentals and rents are going through the roof [0]. As with everything, there is always a caveat. [0] https://www.macrobusiness.com.au/2022/05&

Regardless of all the (rightful?) hate towards Ubuntu recently, it’s worked great for me. Just last week I had a spare Microsoft surface laptop 1 and wanted to setup a headless server since Raspberry Pi’s are ridiculously priced. Ubuntu 20.
