I was an adult before most people were on the Internet. People don't need sites like Facebook to connect with their communities. Strangers are only strangers until you start communicating with them. Most people I know these days were f

I think they got the idea of circles from Diaspora. The WWW works best when used as intended: decentralized communities that encourage people to be creators rather than consumers. Instead of Facebook, participate in independent online commu

Arguably, that's one of the problems with Facebook. Not all of one's contacts should be in the same conversations together.

Why post anything on that site at all? I recommend deleting all of your content and then deleting the account. For some people, it may require a period of restructuring your life around other services before completing the process though. H

It isn't authoritarian at all to say that Facebook is not a necessity. TV is mostly-garbage, but it isn't as bad as Facebook.

It seems like a bad idea from a first glance. It looks like there are also Twitter Zero, Google Free Zone, and possibly others. Other countries have the right to develop their Internet with the same freedom that we currently have. (I'm

That is not what I'm arguing. :) Are you arguing against Net Neutrality? Governments do have a duty to protect people from predatory companies. When private companies inhibit the freedom of a population, would you argue that government
