There are great "easy to maintain" servers like Gitea. I run it myself to mirror some things that I would not want to lose. But self hosted Gitea and other alternatives won't scale easily (and would not be cheap). The biggest

Not sure how popular it is elsewhere, but here where I live, Wolt is the most popular food delivery service by a large margin. And their service is great. For us it is like Spotify or Netflix, but for food. The rest of the EU and world prob

That is the marketing side - reality is different. I am always running the latest stable version. Phone sync is terrible (does not work properly), opening gallery view with a few images takes from 30sec to never, iOS app crashes frequently,

I hope you do know that NextCloud is a fork of ownCloud. NextCloud is probably just as boring. :) I use Nextcloud and it is very dated and with poor performance in multiple areas. I was expecting someone would come and make a more modern op

I hope no one was expecting that their custom code would be automagically migrated to Gutenberg. Eventually they will have to migrate if they are going with the times. The old editor was morally obsolete. It is like driving Tesla and compla

Have you tried Rust? The ABI in Rust is doable: https://people.gnome.org/~federico/blog/rust-stable-abi.html And it doesn't feel like C++ when writing it. The syntax and language features are nice and feel mo

Could someone please explain why the article lists OpenSSL license as problematic, while in-explicitly hinting that LibreSSL doesn't have that problem? How could that be the case if LibreSSL is just a fork of OpenSSL? Surely they can&#

Apparently since FTL is a proprietary protocol, it is not supported on most Linux distributions. I wanted to try this, even made a docker config and only then realized I can't stream to it from Archlinux.

Sadly it won't. I have been following it since release of OwnPhotos. Back then it was a messy university project of the original developer mixing different tech to achieve the goal. It simply stopped working with bigger sets of images.

Whenever I find a really cool open source software that helps me and is made by individuals without some big company sponsorship, I try to reach out, say thanks and send them some beer money. Obviously it does not help much but I think this

Instant.io is WebTorrent, where everything is handled client side using JavaScript. Webtor is server side, downloading using Bittorrent protocol on their server. This is stupid and will put them in a lot of trouble.

Sadly those mentioned open source products are still light years away from what Lightroom can offer. It is like comparing Gimp to Photoshop. Yes, they can do some of it, but they can't do it better or even close to that if you are seri

It seems as if making such UAV killer robot systems is easier than detecting and protecting against them. They can't be jammed if they are truly autonomous and use computer vision + other sensors, probably very hard to detect on radar.

Canon is well adapted to digital age. They simply sell much much more expensive professional gear that can do the unlimited 8K recording. If they were to add this feature to R5 out of the box, they could see reduced pro gear sales.
