Idealistic thinking. Legends are just motivated people who are often at the right place, in the right time. It was never my intention to take anything away from this legend of a human. I'm just trying to bring the discussion back down

What a nightmare, for all parties involved. As a consumer this is what must not happen, and someone at HP QA must be kicking themselves right now.

It's interesting how we saw the drone combat unit coming years before the invasion of Ukraine. I remember seeing drone police units at protests before the pandemic here in Sweden. So I should have been able to predict that any modern c

In the panic of sifting through and restoring backups I doubt many of them actually take the time to do an extra backup of the encrypted data. And of course the hardest hit companies don't even have viable backups, so it's even fu

I was looking for a new e-mail provider recently and migadu was a top candidate but I can't get over the fact that they price based on number of e-mails received. Isn't that easily exploited? Someone could potentially DoS your acc

Which company is better? When it comes to that level of data and maturity I think there is no valid competition. I've consciously made the decision that I don't care what Google does with my data. They're going to attempt to

I don't get it. People around me have been saying Google is shit for years now but I can't see it. I still reach for google for any minor query, and it's super responsive and it's super helpful. Yes of course I am aware

Well this also applies if someone friendly finds your phone and wishes to return it. It's a catch 22 there.

At work best practice is to use a real domain you have control of both internally and externally.

I use it for all my devices. But obviously if you want to host a service with TLS, even an internal one, use a real domain. .home.arpa is only the device hostname, not the service name.

That was a surprising amount of new information to me about the origins of Apple. Good article. Jef seems like the successor to Woz.

Sooo many. I can't even pick one. I'll pick the one that did the most damage. We had a service window to do some sort of migration involving a DB, very late at night. I had been up all day working, short walk, dinner, then around

And that's the mentality part that is a wildcard. On paper we might have good solutions in Europe, but the question is if those fundamentlists in the US will tolerate our solutions if they require government regulation. There is just n

The person carrying such an expensive suit probably had a very specific role on the battlefield. Which is a source of endless speculation. Presumably they had to be protected to perform a task while exposed to arrows or spears.

Interesting because in Sweden there is a turnover limit of around 284k USD/year for using their simplified tool for financial statements. Which covers most sole-proprietors who have 1-2 contracts, like myself.

I have no idea but I remember the Sopranos episode where Christopher's father in law owns a hardware store and sells fenced goods out of it. It's not hard, but the owner can get done for it of course.
