ICQ was probably my first instant messaging. Even before I found IRC. My older brother had a 5 digit number, and I remember knowing mine by heart at some point. I also remember very early putting together like a mental map where different r

At 98% percentile of Shiba's I'd say it's more like turning 100, at least.

Me being perpetually unartistic I would actually love it if I could just make some sketches and AI could beautify them for me, or fill in the blanks and render what I want. This would be like what frameworks were for artists who wanted to m

You're right, I don't think the US overall system is ready for a right to roam. I come to this conclusion sometimes, one simple example is that most US suburbs are not ready for public transport because of the distances between ea

I wish there was a reality where content creators understood that ads just don't work on some people. I understand that they need money, and I listen to the ads when I can't fast-forward through them, but it's a complete wast

May I ask what benefit do you get from Geforce now when you already have a 4080 at home?

I never thought I'd find myself subscribing to games streaming but geforce now really is amazing for someone who is trying to live and travel minimally but still wants to try the occasional big budget game.

Great lecture. I just started getting into Doom levels through a friend who's obsessed with Slade and Doom Builder. It's an amazing community 30 years later, but I still prefer Quake and its mods. Much more modern.

This is probably the first step to shutting down development of these products. First of all every desktop now has its own mature virtualization. And secondly, Broadcom has no interest in this market.

I have a hard time believing this. I'll have to look into it, because I do have a spare pixel 6 device I'd like to install Lineage on, but I also want to use it as backup for my BankID.

Yeah we have extensive use of eID here in Sweden and they all require device integrity. https://wiki.lineageos.org/quirks/snet/ It's kinda funny that device integrity is so important to them, implying evil ma

Same people around me who talk about Gopher are also promoting Gemini. I admire their efforts to keep simple text based systems simple but I just don't see the point. HTTP has its flaws but at least we can all work together on it.

No, you see https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=40322371 It was all just stolen from an LG ad in 2009. And nobody got upset at that. So clearly this is about Apple as a brand evoking emotions and fake outrage.

They made a cheetah run along a Jeep. Who cares? This is only outrage because people want to be outraged at Apple. And I don't own a single Apple product telling you this.

This is exactly how I view anarchism. The word itself only says one thing, no leaders. So it's up to us to define a world without leaders. My definition has always been that we can have laws, we can have rules, we definitely need rules

I'm 40 but I think I know, from personal experience, why kids stop reading. A video game in the 90s was 10x more exciting and immersive than most books, to me. Today it's at insane levels of over-stimulation. A 30 second tiktok cl

What about sharing from your phone to your laptop?

by INTPenis 2y ago
No, I did try the Gnome equivalent a long time ago but these days I use a more minimal setup. So I'd prefer a CLI tool.
