An enterprise chromeos device (usually the higher end ones fall into this category) can run windows via parallels, web pages via the chrome browser, linux CLI and GUI apps via crostini, and android apps with google play support. Out of the

Because they want a Chromebook and they don't want Ubuntu with no desktop icons? I'm not sure what you're implying to be honest.

Chromebook ecosystem is completely saturated with low end / low cost devices so there is not a segment of the market there that is not being met. Even the "high end" devices are often computationally anemic (Pixelbook series

Yeah - I'm a big framework fan but the battery is not easily swappable (if you define easily swappable as being able to do it without tools on the go between meetings). To me easily swappable is like that dell or the lenovos which had

The timing on this seems off to me - I am wondering why would gnome and unity releasing a different UI/UX ca. 2010 be a response to Windows 95?

Both of your experiences are purely anecdotal but I would explain away the difference in your opinions as the difference being "someone I know who worked there" versus "I visited (a potentially curated) fulfillment center onc

Completely tangential and anecdotal observation: modern commercial toilets with their "strong" pressurized flush and often no covering lid tend to launch water droplets everywhere when flushed. If you're flushing a visibly c

Tech is not a monolith and there are certainly people employed by Tech companies who are engaged in technology oriented jobs who will benefit from unionization.

This is completely tangential and a purely anecdotal observation but I find it interesting that big movements in the "year of the linux desktop" usually come in some very specific use case like ChromeOS or SteamOS.

It sounds like your problem is more with Pete and potentially the fact that he's not a right-winger rather than the actual discussion we're having here. Identity politics aside - I am curious what about "walkable cities"
