Completely tangential and anecdotal observation: modern commercial toilets with their "strong" pressurized flush and often no covering lid tend to launch water droplets everywhere when flushed. If you're flushing a visibly clean toilet this is maybe not such a relevant problem (although perhaps the journal of hospital infection is claiming otherwise here) but if you're prepping to use a soiled toilet this is pretty unsanitary and frustrating.
