Shoulders along highways are also often full of debris (stones, glass, metal, etc.) and other miscellaneous road garbage which make them less than optimal cycling surfaces.
- aendruk 4y agoWhen I encounter bike lanes in this condition I stop for a moment and report it to the city using their mobile app. Typically it’s cleaned up within a few days, but more importantly this closes the feedback loop so it becomes possible for the city to address the problem in the long term.
- sky-kedge0749 4y agoI often walk next to a bike lane that has some freestanding posts separating it from road parking and then a road. Cars sometimes knock the safety posts into the bike lane causing a serious hazard to cyclists. I'll move fallen posts out of the bike lane and up against the curb but the situation is ridiculous. This is in addition to all the other debris you mention.
