There seems to be a culture of proud ignorance around math more-so than other subjects. While I am sure there is some engineering student out there griping about having to take a psychology course, they don't seem to complain as much a

I am not sure I understand how Facebook is even supposed to know about these things. Does this law really say that you cannot run advertisements if the business is facing insolvency? What constitutes insolvency, and how is Facebook supposed

I don't agree that wealth is the factor that should be measured instead of income. Income is the number that matters--wealth is just unspent income. I think wealth is just chosen because the differences are more dramatic.

What about accidents? I think morally we should agree that there is a difference between fraudulent pricing and price errors. Are you actually in violation if you accidentally advertise or label an incorrect price?

My experience in TripleByte is this: even though I passed their quiz and interview, and was referred to companies, I ended up getting only one interview and no offers through them. I happen to work in a bank doing boring banking-like things

Wait... those are the wrong things to say? They are practically textbook PR cliches. They are not necessarily what people would actually do, but they sound like the correct answer in interview-speak.

I question if an IQ test would actually reveal anything about someone like von Neumann. He is quite literally 'off the chart'.

Do you think that's a good practice? I have always been conflicted. For one, writing a new function isn't just for vanity--it changes the actual machine code generated (unless an optimizer is smart enough to fix it). I don't

Are these the typical steps students go through? I would guess that most students know to convert it to a string and count the length, with a smaller group knowing about base 10 logs. I like the general idea of it--improving the algorithm i

The Manitoba legislature building offers guided tours in English and French at alternating times. Of course the French tour is probably empty >90% of the time, but it still has to be offered in equal frequency. It wouldn't be fair t

We are a bilingual country. The rest of Canada bends over backwards to offer services in French which are seldom utilized. I would not ask for English in Spain or China because it isn't an official language there. We have a national la

I am going to say something I know will be controversial: none of those should matter. For one, his ability to evade justice for 10 years should not allow him to get off easier. Nor should things like having a family. Why should I go to pri
