What's the best alternative? Personally, I can't think of a job that I would enjoy more than software development, even with the downsides that come with a lot of the big tech companies. And obviously the benefits are better than

The people pushing the gambling site were offered around $100k for the sponsored video. Lots of money to be made when you have millions of subscribers.

Isn't that pretty dependent on where you live? If you are in a newer house I doubt it would be an issue, since you have a personal water heater that gets cycled through pretty regularly.

I suppose it depends what kind of platform you are hosting. With something like Vitriol, where you are mostly posting content independent of other people, it doesn't seem like there is much possibility for abuse. But with something lik

Why not give users more filtering options, rather than censoring certain views? Let the users choose what type of content they want to see, rather choosing for them.

How much money were they offering? I definitely would have taken it, and then re-posted the same review a day later.

So glad that kind of thing is shutting down. Sucks for the people who lost money, but that is a tonne of power being burnt for essentially nothing.

The author mentions that, and says there is a use case there, but suggests that most PWA's don't have any use when offline, so they are useless in lots of cases.

The majority of viewers are male, so I think it makes sense that the highest earners are also male - I would expect people, especially younger people, to gravitate towards YouTubers of the same gender. Also there are several gaming channels

It doesn't have to be a part of the experience, you can disable the comments on their videos. Although other videos you watch on YouTube would still have comments, obviously, unless you use an adblocker or something to get rid of them.

His real persona comes through pretty frequently though, which is why people like him, imo. When he does longer gaming videos, or more serious videos, you can see what he is really like to some degree. Most of his viewers should be very awa

Well to be fair the parent was using one of the most popular TV shows to make their case, so using the top YouTuber as a response seems reasonable.

I don't think that is a fair comparison, because people pay money to watch Game of Thrones, while YouTube is completely free. If it cost $14.99 a month to watch a small set of YouTube channels, their viewership would be far lower (and

That would still be discrimination though, just in a way that benefits an underrepresented group. Discrimination isn't always bad, and it is legal to descriminate in hiring if you are doing it for diversity.

It's interesting how women seem to get interviews when matching fewer of the job requirements than men. Might be worth looking into whether this is due to gender discrimination in recruiting, or if women just apply to jobs that are a b

Well that's my point, they seem to have a perception of the Rust community that is incorrect. It's not neccesarily a bad thing, just an observation.

It's interesting how 7.71% of respondents said they felt they were underrepresented due to being non-heterosexual. If 7.71% of Rust users are non-heterosexual wouldn't that be roughly in line with the expected number, since less t

I would rather have some CSS to make the basic HTML Gmail look like the classic Gmail. Adding CSS to the new Gmail doesn't make it any faster, which is my biggest problem with it. The basic HTML version runs really fast, but it could u

I agree slavery has a central role, I was just saying that it was also presented as a central role previously, just not as the only role. The headline implies, at least to me, that slavery wasn't being taught as having a role at all.

A city isn't a business, and shouldn't be run like one. In theory they exist to serve the people, and I don't see why it is any better for people in New York to get a contract than people in any other city.
