So, so far I haven't seen anyone on here take the strong free speech absolutist position -- that nothing should be censored ever, including calls to violence. I've seen several comments that basically say "don't censor i

There aren't really that many coal jobs, big-picture-wise, about 60,000. Arby's employs more people than that.

What built the US into what it is today was its incredible amount of untapped resources, followed by military dominance and tapping into other countries' resources. Keeping people impoverished was (and is) not necessary for that.

I think this is the crux of what drives me mad with these personal anecdotes of struggle. Is this the best we can do as a society, that a few poor people, through work and luck, can become less poor? What's the point of these stories,

That is unfortunate. All business has risk; becoming a property owner is no different. I anecdotally know a few people who bought second homes to rent out, and they're facing a crunch too. I don't see why, though, small-time landl

Purely anecdotally, as a pet owner this doesn't surprise me at all. I have two rescue cats that, from the descriptions from the fosters, had very stressful lives before I got them (attacks from dogs, being attacked by other cats in a f

It's more than that, we in the US are actively subsidizing sugar, making it cheaper and more available for use everywhere. How many processed foods would contain sugar if it raised the price by a few cents per unit cost? If we're

People do not need liquidity to survive. They need air, water, food, medicine, shelter, in decreasing order of importance. No one has ever died for lack of liquidity. We've done a middling job at making sure people have air and water,
