As someone who grew up on the older episodes, and who only dabbled in the newer ones, this headline really threw me for a loop. I was struggling to remember some kind of Star Trek like communicator or somesuch, and drawing a blank. Can anyo

I agree with the sentiment of the article, and am "in that camp" on security. Consequently, I have recently wondered at some inverse, SciFi scenarios, for fun -- scenarios in which the content is intentionally made available to th

Thank you for capturing my thoughts, exactly. It's like the answer has been in front of us the whole time, but we're distracted by needless complexity.

Interesting article that leaves me wanting to read the two missing essays. My head tilted at the statement, "His writings... were considered masterpieces when they appeared in the 18th century." Hume remembers it differently, comm

These kind of chatbot comments should be banned. When the chatbot content sticks out from everything else like this, we don't need AI to fish it out.

Agreed - though I would add rationally empathic. I've found that if I follow-up, immediately, with an understanding of my child's perspective, they are more on-board with what I am modeling. Then, it's not just about me being

This is also my personal experience, including a good friend of mine who opted for policing for these reasons after completing a degree in philosophy. He has been a beloved small town cop for many years.

Thank you, I don't entirely agree with myself, and feel that it is too reductive a statement. It is at least worth considering that countercultures contrast best against cohesive cultures. We're now lacking both, mostly due to the

Do we live in a society without a counterculture? Yes, because there is no longer a central, shared culture.

Any counter-culture requires there to be a culture. We have no counter-culture, because there is no longer a strong, central culture. 4chan is one of many siloed cultures, not a counter-culture.

Rephrased, what do numbers represent, if there are no discrete, fundamental things? And if numbers represent the things we seem to perceive (discrete, fundamental things), though our science demonstrates that individual things are illusory.
