How many of you have _never_ used any of these central-platform Social Media sites? My purpose is not to virtue signal or brag about how I've never owned a TV etc, but I'm genuinely curious about how many people who are reading th

Anyone interested in Einstein's ontological and epistemological beliefs should read Arthur Fine's excellent "The Shaky Game - Einstein, Realism, and the Quantum Theory". One of the most rewarding books I have ever read.

We need to connect - we are of the same mind. How do we do that? I have composed a 'book' on the topic and would love your thoughts.

Great read. What conclusions should we draw? What should we do, if "money is no longer money"? It seems like most normal people operate as though money... is money. What should change in the way most normal people do what they do

When I see sites like this, I want to give them money and support them, whether the content is worth it or not. This made my day.

My repair guy came by last week to fix my Maytag dishwasher. He noted it was ready to be replaced. We are heavy users. This guy has been in his job for over 30 years. He uses a flip-phone, and has encouraged me to do my own repairs on multi

Are you sure that "cheers" and "tschuss" are etymologically related? I would love that. Everything I could find points to a Latin cognate, "cara".

Interesting take on the neurology of forgetting in relation to things like PTSD, cultural amnesia, and the function of networks. The high value of forgetting was heralded by Nietzsche in his works. I was surprised to see his unique insights

Please keep this kind of stuff off Hacker News - this isn't Reddit. One of the main benefits of this site is that one doesn't have to waste time pushing through reams of clever references.
