Why is it not? People use it in plain text millions of times a day.

Because all of those symbols are used as part of text, while the external link symbol isn't. It is not part of the text itself. If you copied that text, you would not really expect the link symbol to be copied along with it.

The backspace symbol makes perfect sense. You may very well want to say "Press ⌫ to delete the selected object".

It is not. Coroutines are a much more fundamental feature. They can be used to implement cooperative multitasking, and since that is such a common use case, they have gotten confused with the concept of cooperative multitasking. Actual coro

Why exactly would the left want a union-busting, worker-absuing billionaire on its side? He is everything the left should be opposing.

I think it might be more helpful if he just stopped being a massive asshole.

Is it really that much to ask them to do their part to keep hundreds of thousands of people from dying painfully. Is that really not something they are prepared to do.

There is no such thing as "technology by itself".

I've seen people try to use YOLO for homebrewing a self-driving car. There's not even any need to go as far as assume evil intent on the users of the software, just plain recklessness can easily cause people to die.

So the author goes, "wait, this actually causes more evil than good, I will not work on it any longer", and the other guy goes "don't worry, I will keep doing the evil for you!" Sigh.

I'd say the really exciting stuff happening in smartphones are the things going on with computational photography, like Apple's Deep Fusion. This is moving beyond the limitations of single lenses and single sensors and enabling so

It is not "pixel perfection". It is many things besides, such as behaviours, generally agreed-upon layouts, spacings and margins, accessibility, the list goes on and on and on. I have not seen a Qt app on macOS that did not stand

In reality, if you want to actually make a serious, usable and comfortable GUI, there is no cross-platform solution. There are many attempts, but none will let you create a GUI that actually fulfils all those requirements. If you are making

You're still going to be updating at 60 FPS which will absolutely murder your battery on a mobile device. These are meant for use in games that already do this. They are not suitable for building regular apps.

The one who misunderstood is you. When people talk about a "game engine" in 2020, they are not talking about drawing code. They are talking about something much, much bigger.

Sure, but that is a ton of work. Getting it for free, even if it is not perfectly suited to your needs, it a huge time saver.

That is the whole point of lockdowns, to bring the outbreak down enough that these methods are reasonable again.

You are still severely underestimating what a modern game engine does. The technical side is only one part of it. Integrated content creation and editing is a huge part of it.

The nice side effect here is that even if you are not targeting browsers, if you want a modern, fast, usable and cross-platform 3D API, there now is one, which hasn't been the case for a long time. And there are at least two different
