As an English/French speaker who is learning Japanese I'd love to see the chat logs! I first learned French to fluency and then I moved on to Japanese and I realized that it's so much harder to learn Japanese (and presumably

I went to school for CS while one of my best friends went for EE. It definitely seemed like the far more complex discipline. In fact for a small project in an elective he programmed a computer vision system that was far ahead of anything me

Thanks for the info! I've certainly never been able to make a decent bell sound with a subtractive synth. As for FM synths, I rarely have to because there's so many good presets out there but I've accidentally made bell patch

Sorry my mistake, I was trying to say that the individual oscillators/filters/etc add up in cost (at least that's often what analog synth companies say when people ask about low voice counts) I'm assuming an ASIC has a s

It's funny, the whole analog vs digital thing I personally can't tell the difference that often with EXCEPT the filter. I have a digital synth with a digital filter that's great but I feel like I have to put a lot more work i

My takeaway from this is that we should lament the gradual death of niche forums where we can discuss this with real humans.

I don't want to get ahead of myself but currently that seems to be having an effect on Vancouver AirBnB's as we're starting to see craigslist posts like these : https://www.reddit.com/r/vancouver/com

I think the reason the DX stuff broke out besides the different sound was they could do it on a cpu at the time and have a lot of voices without incurring the hardware transitor cost for each voice as much. I'm not an audio programmer

Not to take anything away from Control. That game is a absolute masterpiece but the destruction in that game is largely cosmetic and often inconsequential to gameplay. So much that it could be pre-fractured offline.

I have used these for published cross platform development. They don't solve everything but they certainly make things easier. Some of the issues you are describing would still exist even if I wasn't using a cross platform library

I've definitely seen some really well optimized web targets. Unfortunately that is not the common case in my experience currently. That said the WebGL/WASM stuff is generally very nice in my experience and is very much changing my

For games SDL still gets a good amount of usage. As do a few other frameworks that I think fit your criteria if I understand you correctly. Examples - SDL - GLFW - Openframeworks - Monogame/FNA/XNA/etc - Haxe
