Thanks for the info. That sounds like quite a rough situation. I guess games aren't really an analog despite being one of those creative/technical industries.

Thanks for the information! I figured I hadn't really scratched the surface on this stuff. I'm quite interested in making a GUI from a functional language. This could be a good way to kick the tires.

I'm not well versed in the business side of things so I want to ask : Isn't fixed cost contracts considered usually a bad idea in creative-technical endeavors? I spent about 10 years or so working in AAA games and I found that I h

Would you mind sharing some of the frustrations you have had using F# from C#? I haven't hit anything too hard yet but I also haven't worked on any large projects that are setup like that. In regards to the C# vs F# issues. Have y

I had a great time writing a static site generator for my website. Initially I wrote it all in C# but I started writing specific components in F#. Currently the only F# portion is the sync-over-FTP feature but I do plan to convert a lot of

Pardon the sidebar. What does FTA stand for? Googling the term doesn't seem to yield results that make sense to me.

I think that's definitely the reason from my talks with the engine programmers who added lua support to our bespoke engines. Lua binding is quite easy.

I have. At first it seemed a little restrictive because you can only really access other devices but I took a look at some of the example projects and it's relatively powerful for all its restrictions. There's a king of the hill g

That was my immediate thought as well. The Japanese to English CC's are absolutely terrible to this day.

I've spent about 8 hours with it. It's neat to play with but I'm not yet sure it's the greatest fit for fortnight modding. Part of the problem is getting used to fortnight's device lexicon. Devices are kind of like

I was playing with UEFN quite a bit the last week. As far as I can tell there is no way to make the player limit larger than 100 currently. Maybe it's a plan for the future.

I suspect they intend to roll this out the unreal engine some time in the future. Many people have been asking for a text based approach to game scripting (often it's ex-unity people asking for C# support. Perhaps fortnight is kind of

C/C++/C# are indeed often used for game programming but when it comes to gameplay logic scripting there's a lot more options. Lua, blueprint, lisp, angelscript, unity's graph language etc..

They forgot to include Conan Reis who has been at epic working on that stuff for a long time. He authored a game-specific scripting language called Skookum Script. I have used it a small amount on a couple projects. It's an interesting

Last I checked, python support is editor-only. I believe Verse is made by a small team who previously worked on a game-specific scripting language called Skookum script. I used it maybe a decade ago so my memory is hazy but I think you are

In this case wa modifies a particle to make it sound more feminine. It's not a particle by itself. For example "yo" might become "wayo". I'm not sure I know about "wa" being used in that way by itself
