That part is solved: (1) German BASF is one of the manufactures for "semiconductor chemicals". (2) More important: Getting parts from Malaysia (etc) is no issue as I don't think they plan to attack any neighboring countries i

Human rights organizations and investigative press should and must plan for maximum exposure. Very clever timing and I congratulate whoever planned that. Had that been released e. g. 3 days after the Russian attack on Ukraine started, hardl

This is an effort by many. So cut that crap. If you have real doubts spell them out clearly. Journalists e. g. from German Spiegel.de and other participating newspapers found and spoke directly with relatives of these people, and thus verif

You can not compare a China-style brutal lockdown with anything you have ever seen in a Western country. Especially Germany never had a real lockdown - as in: You can not leave your apartment no matter what.

That is not even a start, the amount is adding insult to injury. We are talking about a (self-proclaimed) economic superpower, and not a local bakery chain in Beijing.

Yes, why would this "news" be upvoted. That amount is so low, it is actually insulting. China has the means to end this war on short notice but it choose not to.

The real/bigger thread in the future will be a hyper-nationalistic China. I can only hope we apply the lessons learned to China as well.

"Factual error" is a strong word for a minor issue. It does not change anything - because no one knows what viri were in the lab. And "China" refuses to share any data about it e. g. the missing virus database.

"that erodes the environment and feeds people microplastics"... yes, the "Tragedy of the commons". But the issue is, the environment in non-free societies (=> no free press) is in much worse shape.

I fail to understand why people like nuclear so much. Risks aside, renewables are cheaper. So why use an outdated technology like nuclear? (Now, fission would be a different story. I am all for researching this intensively).

That is because formal independence - as used in this survey - means a considerable risk of war with China. It is no surprise that people hesitate going to war when the current status quo is somewhat ok.
