Yeah I agree that blockchains look attractive for handling the ownership problem, but I don't believe they are necessary for cases like this. A well designed open protocol would do the job just as well. Blockchains are for cases where

Generally it isn't illegal under any system based on common law. A necessary component a crime is mens rea, which is the intention or knowledge of the wrongful act. The act alone, even if it is illegal doesn't constitute a crime.

They were certainly promoting that concept in 2012, and for years after that. Remember, everyone was going to be able to release their own promises on it... so you could have a Euro backed promise from X which you could swap on chain agai

Well, every previous incident, those who bet against tether lost. Those who went long on tether picked up a nice quick profit and laughed at the fools on the wrong side of the trade. We'll see what happens this time.

It's far from ideal, but I like the reset provided by card expiration. Better would be if the issuer provided a web interface to turn off any subscriptions at will. Asking the merchant to do it is usually very annoying and time consumi

I prefer to be able to choose whether my card details are updated. By default I do not want updates. I will definitely give Uber my new card, but I like how card expiration kills subscriptions I don't care about without me having to do

Thailand has exit controls, so he would have to sneak through some remote area to get out. Anyway, I really doubt the Thais will sentence him to death or some crazy life term if they do catch him.

Yeah, but I find dig faster since all the whois servers decided they needed to also return 10 pages of legal bullshit, and easier to check a bunch of possible domains in a loop. Whois is probably more up to date as zone updates are batched

There's clearly two schools of thought debating here. One is that there should be a presumption of innocence, and the other is that there should be random warrantless checkpoints everywhere to catch the bad guys.
