I suppose that's an inaccurate choice of words. I meant to juxtapose something meaningful to someone in stead of the Skygod that the Christians pretend to worship on Sundays.

I have way more faith in the oath made to a real principle than a made up one. I haven't read the book in question but am familiar with the picture with the same name and Sagan's works. Someone that chooses to make an oath to some

Something extremely satisfying about building up some manual thing and then finding a way to automate it with the tools at hand. Plus there are layers to the automation. Then I installed Bobs&Angels mods and they just took the game to a

This is insane. You don't relinquish control of your 2FA token for ANYTHING. You are basically allowing someone else to plug in your phone to whatever poisonous hardware they choose.

I've played two games in my life with a similar fervor, Civ2 was one, the other was Factorio. Historians will remember these games.

Do your own research. This is an article that leads to 0% taxation options, first thing Kagi suggests: https://www.theceomagazine.com/lifestyle/property/lowest-inc...

Then choose to live where the taxes are low and services are shit. Don't take the piss out of our choices. They do not affect you.

Some of us see it as paying for services, not that the government are thieves. And we are pretty happy to pay, given the hellscape examples shown in the good old US of A.

I had an account for an unnamed streaming service and I really valued contributing to the production of the content with my small contribution. Then I moved from one country to another. After the move I have a credit card issued by a bank i

Oh it's taught. I have a bone to pick with how. I'd rather have spent a lot of time on the practical application of SQL than the theoretical background of column and table operations.

I interact with SQL on a daily basis but never write a single query by hand. It's all abstracted by the Django ORM. I do have to be mindful of what I do of course but mostly I just plow away with the abstractions offered. Once in a whi

I'm working on a simplified bookkeeping system for my own use as a contractor. Seen a cool way of making a product with it once it's featureful enough. Started as an invoice system.

This falls apart when viewed from the perspective of two FOSS collaborators. Neither is getting paid so both can act like privileged pricks?

The unreasonableness here is that since the party couldn't enter into a contract they are precluded for life from doing so in the future.

I usually have a VM for Win stuff so I don't have to reboot my computer. Especially for the use case of 15 minutes of building with MSVC.

I have horrid memories of debugging I had to do to get some god-awful fourier transform to calculate with 15 digits of precision to fit a spec. It's right at the boundary where double-precision stops being deterministic. Worst debuggin

I would think by now any bunch of clever people would be trying to fix the generalized problem of supporting n-bit memory addressing instead of continually solving the single problem of "how do we go from n*2 to (n+1)*2". I guess
