Can anyone who's used this gather whether it's built with iOS APIs or HTML5? Looks a little too perfect for HTML5, which is too bad for Android tablets (and the three people who own one). Since this has been tried lots of times and no one h

Warren Buffett's argument was "anecdotally the über-rich wouldn't mind paying more and (demonstratively?) won't invest in US markets in markedly different ways". That other sundry taxes are out there doesn't seem like it matters in that con

This would have happened. The odds that it would have gone to a charity and not to an iPad are pretty small. I see a lot of irate comments on Jonathan's blog and the card's Facebook wall from people who likely cannot appreciate the ease wit

With occasionally obtuse syntax: yes; with bonus space parentheticals: no (see?). Most non-code writing is going to be read linearly, rarely more than onc. Parentheticals in a reading context are secondary, not deserving of additional empha

This is my personal preference too. I like that the condition is visually separated from the wrapping. I'm also prone to borderline-too-complex conditions, and this syntax makes those easier to focus on.

Five years ago I bought an iBook with a what-felt-massive 80gb 4200rpm drive. Today I'd toss an 80gb drive in an electrostatic bag and probably forget about it. Five years is a sufficient warranty for my consumer use, even for cutting edge

It looks like Alexander Chen played a large role in this. He was responsible for the NYC MTA conductor piece that made the rounds earlier this year: http://blog.chenalexander.com/2011/conductor-mta/ Cool to see how this concept and code h

I haven't dug into this code at great length, but it looks like the images-only limitation is totally artificial, gated by the isImage method on line 23 of https://github.com/glenmurphy/dropmocks/blob/master/files/mo... Anyways, Dropmock'

I'm a little disappointed to see min.us making headlines—it started off as a fairly obvious clone of http://www.dropmocks.com/ . I guess min.us has built out their feature set a little more, and DropMocks was just a side project of Glen Mu

Every time someone tries to tell a friend about your site, they'll need to say "cardly, but with a 'k'." It's a minor thing, but I'd favor a name that didn't require auditory clarification.

Seam carving? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIFCV2spKtg Person-silhouetting seems more difficult to do well than content-replacing. I wonder how this falls apart in complex scenarios? Still, an interesting idea.

I'll definitely have mine next time I have a garage sale. I think semi-licensed SF street cart vendors should be overjoyed. Et cetera. I think there's a long tail of uses for debit/credit for which an easy solution has not existed.

This change provides an added benefit of cleaning up the Twitter app ecosystem. Twitter is changing, and if an app developer won't make this change they probably wouldn't ever be inspired to update their app to use new features^, and users

I'm reasonably sure this is not true. Anecdotally, for starters, I've never seen a site do this for mobile. Even sites with robust liquid layouts cannot be expected to condense to fit in 480px. At that width even ubiquitous things like a 2-

Analyst reports on Apple developments are particularly cringe-inducing to me. Many are clearly unsubstantiated guessing by folks who are perhaps only marginally familiar with Apple's plans. The only thing that makes this particular article
