For sure, maybe it's my Adhd and/or chronic fatigue, but so often at work, I would not be able to get motivated or focused, and would mindlessly scroll the Internet waiting for the time when it would be reasonable to leave for the

I still hold onto my SpaceOrb369 for this sort of game. There is a guy that makes a converter to make it work over USB... https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/SpaceOrb_360 https://www.tindie.com/products

I think your really going to have to cite your sources here. Based on the studys I've seen the it looks like the Jury is still out. And anecdotally it's been a big boost to most of the places I have direct involvement in.

We've already spread out a lot. Should young people be living acres away from the next house and an hours drive from their friends? I'm not sure that'll solve loneliness and disconnection. Not to mention that these days, even

Wouldn't selling it, perhaps not be particularly fair. Like, couldn't they sell it at a price that would eat up all potential profits from the company using the data. But it'd be fine since they could run that segment of the

This for sure. City builders, and certain classes of RTS are really the last major forms of games that really are very poor fits for modern off the shelf engines. Honestly, trying to build one in either Unreal or Unity is going to be a pain

I'm not sure that's super relevant. Firstly, just because they can use Unreal doesnt mean that it isn't causing problems, even you state that they are using it juat for their graphics which inplies challenges. It's a com

Fair enough, but Unreal's Renderer isn't the best fit for this sort of game either. And their data based ecss is still behind DOTS for simulation last I checked

What is that comparing? Beware of sampling mismatch. Due to Unreal's use in AA and AAA and the size of those teams, I wouldn't be surprised to see the statistics reversed when you limit the talent pool to the set of people you nee

Yeah, and city builders have a very unique set of constraints that would prove to be a misfit for most modern off the shelf engines, And remember, despite Epic's efforts, UE is still a first/third person engine at it's core.

Yes, it's sortof tautologically true that if you generate the optimized code during initial codegen then optimization wouldn't optimize. No, that's not really how we build compilers. I guess you're trying to get is what

I agree with you in essence.. Having said that, it basically has nothing in common with the mid-90's code, either in details nor design. It's dysfunction is almost entirely modern by now. Essentially, while CryEngine was a detour

So, to say Lumberyard is a fork of Cryengine is actually missing some important details. Basically, Amazon started building a new engine and plugin architecture. After acquiring the CryEngine code, it was pretty heavily refactored to fit in
