I mean, I'm using ROCm for VFX rendering. But regardless i'm not sure that cards as old as your 470's can really be super competitive power usage wise to make them very profitable.

That sort-of just strengthens their point then right? It seems they should then be well positioned to compare the potential outcomes.

I think that makes a lot of sense, both of my parents hate traveling. The point of my post was just to suggest that the parent's opinion wasn't universal, that some of us really do actually like traveling. There are obviously aspe

Wow, you really don't like travelling do you? For what it's worth, I don't think your experience is universal. Fair enough, walking around all day does create some bodily discomfort, but personally I walk around in my home ci

Agreed, I had lived in that same neighborhood from about 6 years ago to 1 year ago, and while it took a turn for the worse on March 2020, it has always had a significant drug, homeless and fecees problem.

Yeah, for sure. I can't get anything done in the office anymore. At this point, we just go in once every couple of weeks, when we can all arrange a lunch, and it generally just turns into a: Do a bit of office maintenance, and socializ

For those that find it a bit light, I enjoyed Advanced Compiler Design and Implementation by Steven S. Muchnick. Which covers topics that I found much trickier.

My point is being able to reliably reproduce copyright works will function as a very practical way to tell if the dataset was corrupted with copyrighted material. In that way it’ll be a lot easier to prove that a dataset was corrupted, then

Hi! So, it's been a while, but I'll try to add clarification from the best of my memory. So, in this sequence, I think it is the case that K2-SO was only rendered from behind. IIRC, the reasons for not using it on more shots, and

I'm starting to understand there are clearly 2 different worlds, if you live in one where C++ assumes the use of smart pointers, or especially Boost. In the C++ world I live/work Boost is avoided like the plague. I always wondered

Also, the incentives are real. Unity, generally makes money by convincing more people that they could make video games, and keeping up that belief so they keep paying for versions or subscription fees. Epic only makes money after games ha

Hyperion was designed to specifically take advantage of a specific ray batching architecture that's particularly good for out of core renderers. Which can be good for particularly large and complex scenes.

Star Wars Rogue One had used Unreal for final render of a couple of shots. However it was more a proof-of-concept then a better worflow or anything. Edit: I worked on this, Adding reference video from GDC https://youtu.be/pn

I'm sorry, why do you need a virtual setPixel? You can still easily get something working just by implementing setPixel without virtual dispatch, the linker has no problem inlining that call at compile time. If some arbitrary API needs

Well, for starters, many AAA games in Unreal had to have many core functions/classes rewritten from UnrealScript to C++ for performance reasons, where often not every call is virtual. Secondly, UnrealScript is not really a great exampl
