I don't agree. Programmers are generally much better off than artists in both VFX and Games. But the worse pay and bad deadlines and time management proliferates in both fields.

Ohh I agree, but I had an entirely differn't experience. I went through round after round of interview, passing the interviews without problem. But the team I was interviewing for wasn't able to get the information they needed, be

My understanding is not all cloud providers go through the same great lengths to ensure all data is correctly destroyed, instead of just "Dark" but I sadly don't have any references I can site, just antidotes from people who

I'm not sure Fortnite is a very good example, it uses OpenGL on very few of it's platforms.

Sure, you could compute shadows with forward ray-tracing, but it's still generally more efficient to compute shadows with rays originating from the camera end of the path. Of course, this all starts to get a little more complicated whe

It's all a mess. However typically in video game rendering, ray casting refers to the specific technique where you only trace rays against a 2D scene for a single scan-line, and then draw the entire column of pixels based on that resul

This is missing the fact that the vast majority of game developers are not "software engineers" While what you say is true for a large amount of software engineers in games. The vast majority of game developers are in Art, Design,

The theory is that we can still estimate how much data goes over the network. So if it were sending all audio to the cloud, we'd see. It does however not exclude other information, like sending keyword flags, or storing audio fragmen

Citation strongly needed. I do understand that the wake word processing happens in a special kernel in a low power state, however.... The wake word is a trained kernel, it can be trained to listen for a huge set of things (as seen in the Pi

What makes you think that Google has the best security team? Anecdotally some of their competitors appear to have a much better track record. There is also a difference between "having a team of the best security people" and "

I'm not sure it really pretends that there is so much a distinction so much as C supports stack allocation/management as a language feature, but heap support is provided by libraries.

While I think your point rings true, trying to use your historical examples to point it out dismisses human migration among other factors that may have contributed. For instance, there is a good chance that most "Spartans" have di

Exactly. Honestly I don't know. I suspect it's mostly historical and marketing driven. I think CPU clocks are driven by some sort of oscillator, which is likely thought of as a frequency. And ops/unit-time may be a bit ambigu

It's X vs 1/X. If it's 1/X of time, you get properties such as something that is twice as fast is a 0.5 times the value, but something 4 times as fast is only .25 times the value. thus making the result non-linear. Also
