It took me a while to get font rendering working the way I wanted in Arch, but it is possible (that's by way of encouragement... don't let this be a showstopper for you; I understand why it's important). Infinality is great but even it re

Agreed. This is a great example of why I prefer Arch. Arch has BSD like startup and it's very simple to configure. I realize Ubuntu is moving to upstart, maybe that will simplify things, but the current sysV run level model results in tedio

It's the "go" (as in the game) of Linux distros. Easy to understand, long to master. For instance, I recently switched off of using netcfg to wpa_supplicant instead. netcfg is an awesome way to manage network configs, but I am to the point

I'm not sure if Linode is using archserver but I don't believe they are. I don't see the advantage over vanilla arch isos.

I think some of the other comments have addressed this, but I'll comment on the rollback issue. If you just want to rollback you can download the current package if it's not in your cache. If you want and rollback to previous version, there

I had precisely the same concerns. I first set up a basic webserver on Linode since they had images for Arch. I was skeptical particularly because I've screwed stuff up on Arch systems during an "aggressive" update. It's been rock solid a

For those interested Letter Gothic is available from several online type shops but be aware that since the original was released it has been reissued as both fixed and proportional variants. Additionally, it looks good out of the box on OSX

Unity is risk taking and I applaud it. Some very cool features when I played with the recent beta. Easy to pick up but has some power features as well. Now if I could just get my brand new touchscreen to fully support it's cool gestures.

That's an interesting idea. I'd be surprised if this was true on the simple grounds that this kind of cross fertilization and business unit coordination is very agile and the times doesn't strike me as agile as a parent company. BUT... if i

The real success here is not the fluid design (which is awesome). It's getting it through inside a traditional media company. I'd love to read a frank overview of that process as well as the design itself.

Posterous used to be: Tumblr that worked, with better third-party service integration. Not sure what it is now. That's a problem. I've stopped recommending it to people because I can't summarize it like this anymore.

You made the most important comment in this thread. I really would like to see TC clear this up. Do they really mean fork or, as I suspect and as you state, is this just Android without the google apps baked in? Market is a bigger question.

Metro UI is certainly one of the most interesting and progressive UI developments to come out of MS. I like a lot of the thinking in it. The fact that this explorer UI can exist in the same company is a tell. It demonstrates that MS's silo
