I think Dasung and Mira has e-ink 25" monitors, but they are just getting released, so not sure how good they actually are. I also wonder how they worked around the e-ink patents.

I can't wait for a proper ACEP eInk device. I have a "colour" eInk with the RGB filter, but it's horrible. There is a very visible "screendoor" effect. Basically you can see each individual pixel of the filter

Just like leaving the gold standard, moving to crypto currencies will also be very controversial. But it's needed. You just can't look at the past 10 years and say that the banking system is working.

> If it catches ANY bugs it is objectively better than no PR/code-review from a bug standpoint. No, that's false. That's only true if you also assume that people write the same quality code whether there is a code review p

Why would it be absurd? If there is a process to reduce risks, then people take more risks. I have been guilty of submitting code review when I'm not 100% sure it's perfect, just because I know that there is a code review process.

> I think it is unquestionable that code-reviews catch bugs. Yes, it does catch some, but does it catch more than no code review? There is no point in catching bugs if it also creates bugs to catch.

I haven't seen any research that supports either. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that code review does nothing other than share knowledge, or to learn that it reduces bugs by 50%. I just honestly have no idea, I do code reviews,

> version control would have improved their lives Not sure. I use git at work, but I would never use it for my solo projects. It just doesn't add anything I need, but it takes mental effort to manage it.

Yeah, but throwing away lot's of good features so that you can keep your phone underwater all day just doesn't make sense. Waterproofing is possible right now and works for almost all normal use cases. No need to remove features.

Because it's not possible. I need a ~5.5" Android phone, with SD Card, OLED, 2 SIM, headphone jack and 3 years of software updates. Not sure there is a phone like that, so I don't know what I will be doing when my current pho

Yet we are allowing human right abuses? I think we only care about money, that's why we allow this to happen. Just look at Intel right now, apologizing for not using slave labour...

Recently I have been getting a lot more annoyed about China. Sure they can ban things, it's their right. But I just don't understand why we are not doing the same.

Not really. The wikipage says some pretty disturbing things under the investigation section. No amount of staircases would have helped.

Is it because of the building materials used? I think wood is super common in the US and wood burns easily. If one flat catches fire, all of them do.

I thought violence is up almost everywhere in the US compared to previous years. It would be interesting to see whether this increase correlates with police funding or not. My bet would be no.

It's not that simple. It's very hard to avoid Facebook. For example I literally can't delete it from my phone.

World wide calamity is inevitable at this point. It doesn't really matter if we build nuclear or renewables or both, we cannot stop it, because the root cause is capitalism and we cannot replace that. So given that a calamity is coming
