Yes but the answer would be somewhere in the middle — you need some level of overhead expenses above the bare minimum otherwise the ship will slowly start creaking and falling apart. I didn’t see that much evidence that they were overpaying

Honestly I read through the article and wasn’t a fan of the authors points. Eg wiki only has four years of excess reserves - compare that to many other foundations and endowments and that number looks low. And he thinks its okay for them to

I struggle a lot without that small nap. Would recommend trying that, alternatively maybe wake up early and spend the first hour on your chosen personal field before work. That way, you can be happy the rest of the day, knowing you accompli

Many Thanks for the kind words. I felt I misjudged the purpose of this thread and did not want to sidetrack the conversation / steal the attention. Also I feel like I am personally a better talker then doer, so I always get a bit of in

Because they had to pay goodreads a commission each time (say 5% —> i’m completely making this number up and its probably a lot lower). So if 70% of goodreads profit is from Amazon, amazon figured they could just buy them since the cost

I actually read his ANSI Common Lisp book first, and being a newbie at the time, didn’t have any idea of his immense success. Definitely was very cool to find out that the author of book I read was a billionaire! I’ve heard great things abo

That’s exactly it. Everybody would dream to have his life and his blogs do give a vivid imagery that makes you feel good and believe you can do the same (plus with YC actually giving some hope). But I’ve learnt a lot more from others, who a

This is seriously a very big point. Lot of companies (esp news sites) are luring you in with free trials and hoping you forget and keep paying the subscription costs. They make it hard for you to unsubscribe. Apple's approach is very g
