Yep, people buy benefits, not features. But getting greater CPU power than, and equivalent GPU power to the iPad 3, into a tiny, smaller, lighter phone, is a pretty impressive feature. Because the CPU power isn't spread over 4 cores, it's

A subtle advantage of static typing is documentation: you can see what kinds of arguments are required. This can also be used in auto-generated documentation, creating hyper-links to the type and implementations. (I noticed this in python

I see a program as a theory , a theory of the problem it solves. You can see how well it generalises, if it is needlessly complicated (Occam)... and in some magical moments, you'll find it predicting phenomena you hadn't explicitly antici

I really like extended metaphors. When done well, they tell you more about something, in terms of what you already know. They can also be affecting (a pedagogically oft-quoted example: http://www.poetryfoundation.org/poem/171781 ). Anothe

It's x7 earth mass. The reason we've only discovering huge planets is because that's all our equipment can detect, so far (by wobbling/obscuring their sun). For our solar system, only Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune and Uranus would be massive en
