I refuse to log in to Reddit, deleted my account ages ago. And now on mobile it places an unclosable pop-over asking me to log in to continue reading. So now I only read things on desktop. Would like to stop using Reddit all together but sometimes it is genuinely useful to read some human answers, although since LLM’s train on the data I can get a lot of the same info that way at least.
- Topgamer7 2mo agoI would really just like to stop receiving bot spam because they allow arbitrary uses to "sign in" with your email without any validation. To which you then receive login codes via email and recommendations to Russian subreddits
- p1necone 2mo agoold.reddit.com works to bypass that on mobile.
- tw04 2mo agoThe article is literally about how they’re killing old.reddit.com unless you login.
- taspeotis 2mo agoThere’s an article? All these years…
- Alive-in-2025 2mo agobut is the article on reddit about old.reddit.com being killed so they can track your porn viewing after you have to log in.
- twentyfiveoh1 2mo agoTry "RedReader". You can use reddit without the account.
- bee_rider 2mo agoI wanted to stop going to Reddit because I just used it to look at stupid memes. So, blocking old Reddit for logged out users was a nice favor to me.
- stratos123 2mo agoThere are solutions to this, like libreddit/redlib. https://github.com/redlib-org/redlib https://github.com/redlib-org/redlib

- 3RTB297 2mo agoYou can easily selfhost a redlib instance and keep reading. I stopped logging in to reddit a year or two ago, but there's still a couple niche communities that are worth it for me to read. Meanwhile, I'm back to a half dozen internet forums as my daily check-ins for real questions or human connection. I could be wrong, but it may be more of an age demographics issue, really. People too young to default to internet forums as where they would go now that reddit sucks (many of whom call reddit "an app" and only know it as the post-API single platform on mobile) just started showing up from FB or IG or Tik Tok only because reddit had a certain amount of huge critical mass.
- lgfrbcsgo 2mo agoYou can block the overlay using uBlock Origin in Firefox Mobile (at least on Android). www.reddit.com##div#configured-xpromo-mweb3x_mid_funnel_blocking_v1_30s.configured-xpromo-bottom-sheet.configured-xpromo.rpl-bottom-sheet The selector is probably not as concise as it could be.
- Melatonic 2mo agoIsn't that just for the mobile app popup ? Seems to work ish but then I can't click anything (scroll is fine). No affect for old reddit
- weregiraffe 2mo ago>I refuse to log in to Reddit, You are so brave, an true hero.
- ideasarecool 2mo agoUse incognito mode. The banner doesn't pop up with it.
