Show HN: A Directory of Free, Open Source Alternatives to Popular Software
Hi guys,
I want to share the recent project i developed. I built AlternateOSS, a directory of free, open source alternatives and competitors to popular software.
Currently, i have listed 200+ tools so far and organized them carefully based on their main functionalities. I ranked them based on its category relevancy and feature completeness.
Some technical details & features:
- fully static site built with Astro
- View Transition API for smooth navigation
- Instant/static search with Astro static endpoints

- vouaobrasil 2y agoNice. A shout out to darktable, which I use for all my Raw development as a pro photographer. It's extra nice because I don't have to pay Adobe a cent.

- kseistrup 2y agoIt looks good. It would be nice if ther site could remember that I've ticked “Open-source only”, so I don't have to re-tick it every time I visit a new category.

- cobri 2y agoLooks good. Thanks for making this. Some features that would be nice to have: - a list of the categories - the user’s index page location persists after viewing a sub-page. When I clicked a product, then went back, it starts me at the top of the main page even if I had clicked to go further down the page originally.
- steveharman 2y agoNice. How does one submit a suggestion? I'd like to propose Anytype as an alternative to Notion.
