Next step would be to de-correlate smartphone usage, the prime suspect right now, from other trends happening at the same time. I have two daughters in that age range and I don't get the impression that social media is a big stressor f

I think VB was such a smash hit not because of the language but because the ease of writing a quick GUI for Windows, there wasn't really anything quite like it at the time. Other GUI builders existed but were harder to use and not as w

I had PC in my early 40s, over 15 years ago now. If that treatment had been available then I might still opt for surgical removal. The peace of mind of getting the thing out is huge and the side effects for me were negligible, as I had a gr

That puts the discussion that we should pay less for "defense" into perspective. And make our healthcare system more efficient, those two knobs are what I'd like to turn.

Sure but the question to ask is whether our financial systems have gotten better or worse since the time of tulip panics, railroad stocks, etc. I would argue that they have gotten better but there's always possible improvements.

We use "smart" cameras from Keyence and Cognex but the really interesting work tends to still be in PC-based, hand-coded vision systems. Usually hand-crafted C++ or C# code but increasingly using neural networks for some, usually
