Planet Money did a great episode explaining the general thinking and how this theory has become more mainstream lately, although "greedflation" is a bad moniker. https://www.npr.org/2023/05/11/117548

I graduated from engineering school in Germany, this is what my graduation looked like: I walked over to the student office and picked up a dot-matrix printout of my final transcript. I recently went to my daughter's ceremonies at UO (

Yes, you can go to an office supply store and pick one up, use a webpage or phone call to hook it up to your ISP, generally.

Yes, nice phrasing I'll remember that. Not having a passenger side air-bag is one of those things missing in my indestructible car.

I'm split on this - some of the new tech in cars is welcome other things are annoying. I do love my Ranger from 1997 - manual everything (I would like power steering from time to time) but that thing is indestructible.

Ok, I think this is a good thing for the most part. Cars last so much longer nowadays. More interesting would be the average mileage of cars on the road, though.

When I was an intern in the 80s TCE was very popular as a degreaser. We were supposed to wear gloves when dipping our hands in there but often didn't.

Those examples are really hard to listen to, except for maybe the techno/dancebeat ones. Part of the problem is the awful sound, would be much more interesting to have scores generated by AI and then have musicians record it. As it is

You mean in the now content mills can't afford not to crank out clickbait with AI? That would reinforce my general belief that we've been in a transition state these past few years with the reinvention of old business models in th

I don't understand how companies that use fully automated AI to churn out content can survive long term. Why wouldn't I just go straight to the AI to get what I want? Also, I see an opportunity for publishing brands to set themsel

Nice, wasn't aware of these. We have a lot of NI boards and Picoscopes for analog and mixed signal but this looks like a good choice. We've used their FPGA boards in the past.

Hmm, maybe a bit too black and white, there are good and bad times. What I'm surprised to find out is how much I enjoy having more time and less drama around the house. And less clutter.

Vaguely related anecdote, an acquaintance was playing with his kids at a playground in Central Park and ended up chatting with DeNiro on a parkbench for an hour. My buddy had no idea who he was talking to, which apparently was refreshing en

I'm German and have lived in the US for the past 30 years, still have traces of an accent. I don't care, though, having a Germlish accent in Spanish wouldn't stop me from chatting up all the Spanish speakers around me.
